The Juvenile Justice Authority (JJA)
recognizes that the ultimate solution to juvenile crime
lies in the grassroots prevention and early intervention
strategies. These include building and strengthening
families, education, community involvement and the
juvenile correction programs. Case Management, a
mandated, core program, has been in operation since
July, 1999. Case Managers assist youth in living
productively and responsibly in their community whenever
possible. They develop and implement individual case
plans that treat each youth according to their age,
criminal and personal history and level of maturity.
Case Managers coordinate and contract services with
various agencies to ensure appropriate placement for
each youth. The placements range from foster homes, to
group homes, to the juvenile correction facility.
