Project
STAY, a truancy prevention/intervention program focusing
on intensive monitoring of truant youth, was implemented
by the 20th Judicial District Juvenile
Services agency in March, 1998. Offered throughout the
District, the program operates with full-time Case
Managers providing intensive case management of truant
youth for two complete semesters of school; daily
verification of school attendance; weekly visits during
the first 30 days or as often as needed; referrals for
academic assessments; individual or family therapy and
tutoring services; and drug and alcohol testing and
referral to agencies for evaluation and treatment if
needed. Youth can become involved with Project STAY
through referrals by community resources such as SRS,
SFA, schools, etc. or by voluntary referrals made by
parents/guardian. Youth can also become involved with
Project STAY by Order of the Court.
