and maintains records for storage at Underground Vaults and
Storage in Hutchinson, Kansas.
•Microfilms
and scans documents for preservation as set forth in Kansas
Statues and the recommendations provided by the Kansas State
Historical Society.
•Provides
public access to microfilmed official County records.
•Provides
information, if possible, for individuals who are searching for
birth and death certificates, cemetery records, probates and
other general Barton County history.

Records, regardless of age, are microfilmed.
If allowed under law, once microfilmed, hard copies are destroyed.
If the records cannot be destroyed, they are sent for
storage at the Hutchinson Salt Mine.
