The Legislature of the State of Kansas, in K.S.A. 12-741
et seq, and specifically in K.S.A. 12-766, has delegated
the responsibility to local governmental units to adopt
floodplain management regulations designed to protect
the health, safety, and general welfare. In Barton
County, that responsibility rests with Environmental
Management, as assisted by the County Engineer.
Regulations apply to all structure and
land within the unincorporated area of Barton County,
Kansas.
Persons with
questions about the local flood plain are urged to contact the
Environmental Management Office as specific information is needed to
provide adequate answers to
the public.
