Heartland TASK is a
youth group dedicated to educating Barton County about the
dangers of tobacco use. This includes the prevention of
tobacco initiation and the cessation and implementation of
smoke-free policies. Projects include media prevention
messages, the promotion of clean indoor air and smoke-free
restaurants and school programs. See

| Woman to Woman Health Conference |
The Woman to Woman
Health Conference committee plans and implements this biannual
event on timely topics of interest concerning women's health
issues. The next Woman to Woman Health Conference
will be held in 2009. |
| Barton County Cancer Initiative |
The Barton County Cancer Initiative is a
group of dedicated volunteers who promote cancer prevention
education and early detection through recommended screenings.
Members are involved in educating Barton County about breast,
prostate, lung and colorectal cancer and support the work of the
American Cancer Society in the Relay for Life, Daffodil Days,
Look Good--Feel Good and Tell a Friend projects. |
| Barton County Partnership |
The Barton County Partnership is an
alcohol, tobacco and other drugs prevention planning group of
parents, professionals and concerned citizens. The
Partnership is developing a comprehensive strategic prevention
plan for Barton County. |
| LEAD |
LEAD (Barton County LEAD Project) – Leadership, Education, and
Action Against Drugs – is a County-wide coalition of
volunteers. For the past 10 years, LEAD partners have worked to
educate all residents and prevent alcohol, tobacco and other
drug use among youth. Special projects have focused on pregnant
teens and the prevention of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, tobacco use
prevention and education activities for World No Tobacco Day,
Red Ribbon Day activities, Back to School Drug Prevention
Education and alternative activities for middle school and high
school students. |
| 3I Show Health Services |
The 3-I Show is held in Great Bend at the
Airport Expo Grounds every other year, alternating with Garden
City. Health education services and screenings are planned for
each show. The next 3-I Show will be held in 2008. |
