The Immediate Intervention Program Coordinator is Casey Rowland. Immediate Intervention Program (IIP) is designed to direct juvenile offenders or CINCs reported as habitual runaways away from the formal court system by offering a diversion program to first time offenders. Immediate Intervention Program is offered for youth between 10 and 18 years of age who come into the system. Referrals to the Immediate Intervention Program are made by the County Attorney. Classes cover a range of topics and increase youth’s ability to deal with issues, including, but not limited to: Substance Using Behaviors, Responsible Behavior, Handling Difficult Feelings, Family Relationships, and Building Strong Values. Youth have the opportunity to discuss issues that affect them personally. Classes are facilitated by Juvenile Services Staff. One of the goals of IIP is to help youth realize they will be held accountable for their behavior; educate youth on the impact their actions have on themselves and others (i.e., victims and the community); build competency in youth by providing instruction in how the legal system functions and how to communicate and resolve problems with peers more effectively; and provide a meaningful forum for youth to practice and enhance newly developed competencies.
