All Stars Prevention Program

All Stars is an especially gratifying program because it is a collaborative effort with our elementary and middle schools.

These schools provide the staff and Juvenile Services offers incentives such as rewards and prizes for participation.

One goal of All Stars is to prevent the use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, prescription drugs, and inhalants during the most at-risk years. A second priority is to help adolescents build bright futures.

As an added benefit, All Stars prevents early sexual activity, bullying, and fighting.

Whatever the risky behavior, this evidence-based program helps reduce it, postpone it, and/or prevent it.

All Stars began locally in the 2018-19 school year. Participating in USD 428 Great Bend elementary schools are Eisenhower, Jefferson, Lincoln, Park, and Riley. Other participants are Hoisington Middle School, Central Plains Elementary, and Holy Family, a private elementary school in Great Bend.

These schools should be commended for their foresight in offering this proven prevention program. We strongly encourage other schools in the 20th Judicial District to become involved.

Michelle Daniel, Family Support Worker with Riley, shares the following, “All Stars teaches 6th graders how to explore their futures and determine commitments that will help guide them to bright futures.   The sessions bring classmates closer by improving communication and relationships.”

Beth Rein, Principal at Riley, states, "I appreciate the All Stars program as I am often able to use the language of the lessons during difficult discipline situations. With the program guiding kids to find what kind of futures they want I often connect that to the situation and they usually discover for themselves the disconnect between their bad choices and the future they want"

Please also consider:

The prevalence of substance use increases as adolescents grow. The older they are at the first use, the less likely they will have problems later in life.

All Stars also gives kids hope, allowing them to envision a bright future. Research shows that young people who have a clear vision for their future understand that risky behaviors will get in the way of them achieving their goals.

Thirty years of research into substance-use prevention shows what works and what doesn’t. All Stars applies cutting-edge information in its approach; nothing is done unless research suggests it works.

Many studies show All Stars consistently does what the program intends. It is listed on the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices, which provides solid evidence of its effectiveness.

Our customized outcome evaluation services offer you the solid evidence you deserve. You will know your investment in All Stars is well worth it.
