911 DISPATCHER - 911 \ Communications.  Our well-trained 911 Dispatchers receive and dispatch messages to emergency service professionals. It’s shift work and includes weekends and holidays. You’ll need to pass a security background. DETENTION OFFICER - Sheriff's Office.  Detention officers provide for the safe keeping of prisoners in the custody of the Sheriff, overseeing confinement to include mealtime, activities and transports. BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR / HEALTHY START HOME VISITOR - Health Department.  Public Health supports breastfeeding as a wonderful way to give babies a healthy start in life.  With many known long-term health benefits to both mothers and babies, breast feeding is encouraged whenever possible.  If you have successfully breastfed at least one infant for six months, you are eligible for the WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor / Healthy Start Home Visitor position at the Barton County Health Department.   Work includes supporting WIC mothers through a variety of means, to include home visits.    Successful applicant must pass drug screen, physical assessment and have a valid Kansas drivers license.  Compensation starts at $15.00 an hour.   Full job description - BFC / Home Visitor

ON-CALL WORKER – 20th Judicial District Juvenile Services.  Contractual positions open for grant-funded Barton County \ Juvenile Intake and Assessment. On-call outside the 8-5, M-F time periods. Travels to work with families and law enforcement to determine placement for youth. Must possess strong conflict resolution skills, ability to recognize need and refer to area resources. Administers testing to determine placement and referrals. Excellent written, oral communications. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but experience in Human Services or a related field will be considered.
