Road Closings

Unfortunately the County must close roads or detour traffic while repairs and maintenance is ongoing.  Road & Bridge Department will make every effort to post closings to accommodate traffic.  Closings that are planned will be posted on this webpage.  For information contact the Office at (620)793-1816.

Construction and Road Closing Information:

We will be working doing an asphalt overlay between W Barton County Road and SW 20 RD on NW 60 AVE.  There will be a ridge of asphalt at times and mile stretches will be closed off at times due to fresh oil being sprayed and fresh asphalt being overlayed.  Will update when that section of road is completed.

Starting on June 12, 2025, we will be overlaying on W Barton County Road between SW 70 AVE to SW 90 AVE.  Our plan is to haul in a mile of asphalt on June 12, between SW 70 AVE and SW 80 AVE.  We will then lay that mile on June 13, and we understand that it will be an inconvenience for the residents of that area.  It is the fastest way for us to complete the job with as little problem to the homeowners.  On June 13, getting in and out of those residences will be difficult after fresh oil is sprayed on the road at appoximately 9:30 am.  Once the oil is covered then you will be able to get to your residences and people will assist you with that.  Just remember there will be some fresh asphalt there so it could stick to tires.  Also, attempting to get your mail on June 12 and June 13 will be difficult because we must put the asphalt ridge on the south side of the ride to prevent closing off driveways.  If you need assistance getting your mail contact one of the workers there and they will help you get it.  Once, completed then that mile will be rolled with a steel drum roller on June 16, and we will then move onto hauling and laying asphalt between SW 80 AVE and SW 90 AVE, on June 16 and June 17.  We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding while we get this road work completed.
