Disaster Debris Segregation Requirements

The following materials should be removed from the mixed debris and segregated when brought out to the landfill for disposal:

 

* "White Goods" (appliances, mattresses, tires)

*  Electronics (TV's, computers, stereos, phones, VCR/DVD players, etc.)

*  Household hazardous wastes and other chemical products

*  Household trash and garbage

*  Gas-powered lawn mowers, trimmers, etc.

Lead Acid and NiCad Batteries

Paint, Thinners and Strippers

Cleaning Supplies and Pool Chemicals

Lawn & Garden Products

Pesticides and Herbicides

Thermometers

Automotive Products

Gasoline Cans

Pressurized Containers (Propane, butane, aerosols)

 

If containers are leaking, place them in a bucket or plastic tub.

Explosives/ammunition should be given to law enforcement officials.

 

 

Yard & Garden Waste Is Prohibited

Some of these items include grass, leaves, tree limbs, tree stumps, plants, garden material, brushes, rocks and dirt.

City of Great Bend (620) 793-4150 -  From The Rack Billiard Cafe on Railroad Ave., go South 1/4 mile.

City of Hoisington (620) 653-4125 - From The Shamrock Kaiser Gas Station on Main, go East 1 1/4 mile.

City of Ellinwood (620) 564-3163 - From 7th & Park Streets, go North 1/2 mile
