Your family is special, and your emergency plan should be too. You and your family members should be ready to be self-sufficient for at least three days by providing for your own food, water, shelter and health needs. Be aware of changing weather situations and select several methods for you to receive weather warnings – radio, television, Internet, text messaging or NOAA weather radio.
If disaster strikes, you will need critical documents to begin the recovery process. Do you have vital records (birth, marriage certificate, Social Security card, vehicle and housing documents, medical information, etc.) stored in a safe location, and are you able to access paper or electronic copies if needed on short notice?
